Jackson, Wyoming, bought 8 electric buses for its public transit system … NONE of them are currently operational

When Jackson, Wyoming, located in gorgeous Teton County, first decided to replace all of its diesel public transit buses with the latest and “greatest” electric buses from the “green” industry, town and county leaders thought they were being really cool and “progressive” by embracing what has since been exposed as a massive “green” failure and scam operation.

You see, of the eight electric buses that Jackson officials proudly purchased to replace all of the area’s diesel buses, a total of zero of them are actually functional. What is worse, the company that manufactured them, California-based Proterra, has since gone bankrupt, which means that Jackson and Teton County taxpayers got taken for a ride – but not literally, since all the EV buses are broken – by the green scam known as EVs.

For now, all those cheap plastic Teslas and other wannabe-Tesla EVs on the road right now are still mostly functional, kind of, since they are mere passenger vehicles. The same cannot be said for buses and other large vehicles, though, which when in electric form are piles of junk that simply are not reliable for the long haul – if they even work at all.

EVs and the green industry are a SCAM – don’t be fooled!

Officials in Jackson and Teton County more than likely thought they were doing a good thing by embarking down the road of creating a “low-emission transit system.” After all, the Democrats are constantly singing the praises of all things green, including EVs which they falsely claim are a one-to-one conversion with their gas-powered counterparts.

A joint operation between Jackson and Teton County called the Southern Teton Area Rapid Transit system, or START, was supposed to include these eight EV buses alongside its 23 diesel buses, for a total fleet of 31. As of now, the eight EVs are basically in a scrap heap while the 23 diesel buses are still as strong and reliable as they always were.

Jackson and Teton County’s eight EV buses did not all fail at once. Just two months ago, a couple of them were still operational – but no longer, as of this writing. And because Proterra is long gone, having filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, there is nothing that Jackson and Teton County officials can do to retrieve all that lost taxpayer money that they shamelessly blew on yet another green scam.

“We’re evaluating our options to see how we can work through that and make sure that they can be on the road,” said START Director Bruce Abel to Cowboy State Daily, a local media outlet in the area.

Proterra is still claiming that eventually it will wrap up the bankruptcy proceedings and use whatever proceeds are gained to deliver new EV buses that are still on order by other municipalities. As for the eight now-broken EV buses from Proterra that are sitting idle in Jackson and Teton County, well, those will more than likely end up in a landfill.

Jackson councilman Jimbo Rooks told Cowboy State Daily that Proterra’s bankruptcy announcement was a “real punch in the gut” – you can say that again, except it is your taxpaying constituents, Mr. Rooks, who took the biggest punch.

“While it’s a very upsetting scenario, we need to learn some lessons, problem solve and move forward to improve regional mobility for our residents and visitors alike,” Rooks further commented.
